Many golfers lose their edge in the cold weather months by sitting in front of the TV rather than giving a golf club in their hands. There’s no better way to make that swing stale than by doing nothing for a few months.

And it doesn’t have to be this way. With the number of excellent golf training aids on the market, you can make your living room a proverbial training facility. Provided you have high enough ceilings.

Some golfers who’ve used training aids have picked precise swing keys to train for the winter months. Others have just picked up a golf training club to swing to remain limber and keep those golfing muscles stretched out. Whatever the reason, better to keep the oil running.

Are you spending too much time on the couch? Working on your putting stroke doesn’t take a whole lot of effort, and it’s enjoyable to most golfers. How many strokes could you shave off your handicap by becoming a better putter?

And the same can be said for the chipping game. I have a friend who has one of those chipping nets set up in his living room. Only a few feet away he has a row of synthetic turf pads lined up so he can hone his chipping, 7-irons, 8-irons and event the pitching wedge. His wife hates it!

Can you imagine when next golf season rolls around and your putting and chipping game are in mid-season form as your playing partners are hacking around the green? That ought to be good to pick up a few skins. Many a golfer has grooved great habits in the off-season.

Do you ever thing about retooling your swing from the ground up? How about picking up some advice from the games best instructors through a DVD? Most of the games best produced a few champions, I’m sure they can help you.

And don’t forget feeling comfortable at address. I know someone who won his club championship after getting a brand spanking new set of golf clubs. When I asked him why he switched, he told me he just couldn’t feel comfortable at address with his old set. They didn’t look right.

You can improve all facets of your golf game if you take action instead of not using the colder months appropriately for practice. Your golf game will be glad you took the initiative when next year rolls around. I know just what swing keys I’m going to work on and when. What will you work on? Go after the pin!
